How well do you remember the 2020 U.S. Presidential Election? Obviously, you remember it. It was indeed one for the history books, and not just because of who won, like, back then, a large number of the post-election chaos revolved around Dominion Voting Systems. Why’s that though? You see, some of the strong Trump supporters, such as MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell, started throwing out wild accusations-denouncing that Dominion had rigged its voting machines to toss the election to Biden.
Though, sure, Dominion wasn’t having any of those accusations. And yes, later down the line, they called these allegations baseless and stated, “Not today, people,” before rolling up their sleeves for some heavy-hitting legal battles. So, let’s just go over this Dominion Founder Deposition Lindell Lawsuit and see what really was or is going on in the political scene of the country, shall we?
What Was The Role Of Mike Lindell In All This?
Well, for those who don’t know yet, yes, the man from Comfy Pillows, who went into stirring up election conspiracies, is Mike Lindell. He was one of the loudest bakers blaming Dominion, and that earned him not only the evil eye from Dominion, which slapped him straight off with a $1.3 billion defamation suit, and that was a big thing back then. Though, not quite, for there is always more: Eric Coomer, former Dominion exec, has also sued Lindell stating an unimaginable impact upon his life and career from Lindell’s accusations.
Hereby, he is bidding a firm ‘not so’ for Lindell in that case. You know, by this point, he is making claims of how he is the one being wronged, pointing to all the business losses he has already suffered. As accused by Lindell, MyPillow was dumped by the angry retailers worth millions, and no wonder why. Sure enough, such losses forced the man to auction his equipment just to stay afloat. He believes he is a victim here, not the other way around.
Meltdown and Mic Drop Moments
And if you think that’s too much, just wait until you hear about Lindell’s depositions: he was sitting there, under oath, answering questions from lawyers, and then suddenly went bonkers, what? Well, yes, reports claim he yelled, and slurred epithets against his lawyers (one calling them “ambulance chasers”), and even hammer-fisted it, flailing his fists against the table. Wild? Yes, sure enough, the situation got so wild that the court reporter decided to return the next day. Yes, it was that serious.
Not just that though, at one moment, Lindell, for example, got up and deserted the deposition to jump on Steve Banner’s podcast and promote MyPillow’s anniversary sale, sure enough, that move was pretty bold, right? Later down the line, he further accused the lawyers of attempting to destroy his company and labeled the lawsuit “the most frivolous in history.” Of course, Coomer’s lawyers were not pleased, you know, they have asked the judge to have Lindell redo the entire deposition all over again and pay for the costs associated with his outbursts.
Big Paydays and Bigger Questions
Of course, Dominion is not new to this game either, but how? Like, earlier in 2024, they scored a breathtaking settlement of $787 million against Fox News on similar election fraud claims, you know? And let’s not forget Eric Coomer-he settled his case against both One America News (OAN) and one of its reporters, though terms of that settlement remain undisclosed.
They’re arguing cases of defamation, however, this seems to go far beyond that. What? Like, these suits just plainly illustrate how high the stakes in defamation cases can get when a falsehood is branded widespread. Keep in mind though that this battle for Dominion, however, is not going to end with its name vindicated; it will eventually set the stage for how these cases will be fought going forward.
