Disney is yet again facing another lawsuit, but this time, many people say that they’re just being silly. Like, this whole new drama is regarding something that we know as the Disability Access Service or DAS for short. This Disability Access Service was brought up by Disney itself to make sure that disabled people don’t wait in long lines just to get access to their theme parks, but now they have made some changes to this policy, and not a lot of people are too excited about it.
To be specific, it was actually in 2024 when Disney changed the rules, you know like, making it much harder for people with disabilities to even get qualified to enter their theme parks. So yes, now, Trisha Malone is suing Disney, and that’s precisely what we know as this Disney Inspire Das Lawsuit, so, let’s just get to some crucial details of this case right away.
First Of All, What Changed and Why Are People Upset?
You see, before 2024, it was all plain and simple, like: this program was for anyone who had difficulty waiting in long lines due to some kind of disability. And just so we’re clear from the get-go, back then, these disabilities included people with physical disabilities, chronic pain, or medical conditions that made standing for long periods tough. Alright? Though, it is not like all the people with disabilities could cut through the line, nah, instead they used to be given a return time so that they could come back later and avoid any discomfort by standing for too long, you know?
But then, in Mid-2024, Disney just straight up changed these rules. How? Oh, well, they say that now only guests with developmental disabilities like autism could qualify. Like, from there on, people with physical disabilities, chronic illnesses, or other conditions were denied access to the service, which just doesn’t make any sense because it’s the exact opposite of the intended purpose of this program in the first place.
If you think that that’s just it, well, the thing is, Disney even went on to change how people apply for DAS in the first place. Back when everything was normal, people could apply for this program in person, but now, they say that the applicant must go through a video interview online with a Disney employee.
So, Why Is Disney Being Sued?
Well, first of all, just know that Trisha Malone, a San Diego resident, was one of the many people who denied DAS after the rule change, and she was the one who brought up this class-action lawsuit against Disney in February 2025.
A big claim or allegation of this lawsuit is that Disney is straight up discriminating against people with disabilities, and that’s not only unfair but it breaks many laws as well. To be specific, it is actually a clear violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Though, sure, Disney has said that they have done nothing wrong here, and they had to make these changes because there were so many people abusing the DAS before Mid-2024. That’s all!
