Mielle Organics has typically been portrayed as the best go-to haircare brand for textured hair, and guess what? It has been caught in big drama from there, but what are those headlines all about, and why this Mielle Organics Hair Loss Lawsuit is even a thing? Well, first of all, the most talked-about product, the Rosemary Mint Scalp & Strengthening Hair Oil, known for its promises of bringing lush and healthy hair, is the one that has caused this brand a big issue, and why’s that? Well, it causes hair loss, at least that’s what all those social media posts suggest from a lot of users out there. You know, from bald spots to breakage and just plain old hate damage, the users are bringing frustration to social media, and it’s not just a few, a whole wave of complaints actually.
Then again, on top of that, things have escalated to legal, but why? Well, sure enough, a class-action lawsuit has been filed, which accuses Mielle Organics, alongside its well-known parent firm of Procter & Gamble (P&G), of failure to warn customers against the dangers. Like, the lawsuit states that the product was tested inadequately and the company has misled buyers into thinking that it was completely safe. Customers, who are angry, say that, if they knew what they were getting into, maybe their money could have been saved or they would have thought better before falling for all this hype.
Why Is There So Much Backlash All Of A Sudden, What Really Happened?
We must go a little back for this, you see, Mielle Organics was founded in 2014 to launch hair-care products designed specifically for textured oily hair envisioned by Monique Rodriguez. The brand soon became a household name, especially in the black community due to the massive following from loyal users. But a drastic turn of events happened in late 2022 after TikTok caught wind of the Rosemary Mint Oil. It even went viral in a shout-out by influencer Alix Earle, you know, kinda gaining mad attention even from people with hair kinds it was not originally designed for.
Then, early this year, P&G Beauty swooped in to acquire it. Sure enough, at first instance, this looked like the ideal power play for increasing Mielle’s availability; however, loyal customers did not buy it, but why? Would P&G give the formulas an alteration to make them more viable to everyone? Mielle swore nothing would be altered, but complaints began to roll in, hair loss, damage, and greater feelings of betrayal, and that’s a big thing for people who used to use their products pretty regularly.
Is the Lawsuit Legit or Just Social Media Gossip?
Well, to be honest, this is where it becomes utterly confusing. You know, the lawsuit alleges that Mielle and P&G of marketing something they supposedly knew would be harmful. Like, the plaintiffs allege that some ingredients could react with sensitive scalps or lead to allergic reactions and allege that the company failed to address these issues.
Keep in mind though that here is the hitch, you know, not everything that one sees online is true. A good deal of the outrage has provoked an explosion of misinformation. For example, a labor dispute with Mielle’s shampoo labeling has not much to do with this issue because they’re not old to the case of hair oil. This lawsuit, in essence, revolves around whether Mielle knew that their Rosemary Mint Oil would harm people and did not adequately warn them. So we really don’t know what is going on, maybe it was just a publicity stunt to keep people talking about the brand, or maybe it was a genuine mistake by the brand itself.
